Rubber O-Ring Assortment Kit Product Testing Experience 2014-02-19
I needed a broad selection of Rubber O-Ring, and this kit was exactly what I was looking for. I tested a few specific Silicon O-Ring, which we use for some of our products (we stock them separately, but it's nice to have extras in this kit), and the ID, OD and thickness were all very accurate. They were a tad softer than the Shore 75A rings we usually use, but firmer than the Shore 55A rings we also keep in stock. I'd roughly estimate they were around 65 ~ 75 on the Durometer scale (I'll try and test them next time we have the labs do a product test). I spot inspected a bunch of them, and they all looked clean and without any visible flaws. I'm glad I picked up this set, as they seems like good quality NBR O-Ring for general purpose.I got a peanut lighter (small, sealed lighter) from another company and the o-ring that was on it broke rather quickly. None of the hardware stores near me had something suitable so I figured what the heck and ordered this set figuring I'd never need to worry about Rubber O-Ring again.
The EPDM O-Ring is a little thicker than what I replaced it when so when I seal it you can see a small line of black which you couldn't with the old o-ring but this isn't a problem as it still sealed tightly. In fact, I think it's better in that I think it has a tighter seal and since it's thicker, it won't break as easily.
So far I've had this setup for a while and it hasn't broken so I can say it definitely worked and now I have a bunch of other o-rings should I need them for other things.
